Dr. Margaret Lewin, medical director at Cinergy Health, is featured in the following video discusses the need to expand the Medicare program in the United States, and why the Medicare buy-in option will probably be un-affordable for most people.
Patients love Medicare because the premiums are affordable, and you are covered for previous conditions, but unfortunately the plan is going bankrupt. Medicare has always been underfunded, since its inception and will probably become insolvent in the year 2017. But according to Dr. Lewin, this is a pity because expanding Medicare for people in the age group 55-65 would be an excellent option.
